Your calculator inputs stay in your browser. Here is exactly what is processed when you visit.

Effective 24 October 2026 · Last updated 24 October 2026

Summary

  • Calculator inputs stay in your browser. The calculator runs entirely on your device. In our tests of the published site, entered values were not sent in any network request, analytics event or URL, and were not written to cookies or browser storage. Refreshing the page clears them.
  • We use Google Analytics 4 only if you accept it in the “Privacy choices” banner. Until you accept—and if you reject—Google Analytics is not loaded at all. You can change your choice any time from the “Privacy choices” link in the footer.
  • Our web host keeps routine server logs and may set a short-lived security cookie, and email you send us is stored in our mailbox.
  • We do not run display advertising or ad networks. We do show sponsored Amazon affiliate links on some pages; clicking one takes you to Amazon, which may set its own cookies.
  • We don’t offer visitor accounts, contact forms or newsletters, and we don’t sell personal information.

Information processed when you visit

Hosting and server logs

The site and our mailbox are hosted by Namecheap, Inc. in the United States. Like most web servers, the hosting records technical information about each request—such as IP address, browser user-agent, page requested, referring page and time—for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention. These logs are retained under our host’s practices; we do not export them or combine them with analytics data. The host’s security service may also set a short-lived technical cookie (for example hc_js_gate) to check that your browser runs JavaScript before a page is shown; it is used for bot protection, not analytics.

Google Analytics 4

If you accept analytics, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to measure aggregate traffic: pages viewed, approximate location (country/region/city derived by Google), device and browser type, referring sites and engagement such as scrolling and clicks on outbound links. Google Analytics then sets first-party cookies (for example _ga). Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We have turned off Google signals and ad-personalisation signals, we do not link Analytics to advertising products, and we do not use analytics data to identify you. Our Analytics property is set to keep event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months (the user-level period restarts when the same browser visits again); aggregated standard reports are not affected by these settings and may be kept longer by Google. Google’s “enhanced measurement” is on, so Analytics may record that a visitor started using the calculator form (a form_start event that identifies the form field, not the number you typed). Calculator values are never sent to Analytics; in our tests they did not appear in any analytics event.

Consent first, for every visitor. The same banner is shown to all visitors, wherever they are. Before you choose, after you reject, or if your saved choice cannot be read, the site does not load the Google Analytics script, sets no analytics cookies and sends no analytics requests of any kind (including cookieless measurement). “Accept analytics” and “Reject analytics” are equal choices, and neither is selected for you. The site and calculator work the same whichever you choose, or if you never choose.

Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal: Google Analytics is not loaded, the banner is not shown and the accept button is disabled, even if you accepted earlier. To allow analytics, turn the signal off in your browser and then accept. Analytics is also never loaded for signed-in site editors.

Your analytics choice

Change or withdraw your choice at any time. The same control is in the footer of every page.

What we store. When you click a choice, the site saves one preference item in this browser’s local storage, bc_analytics_consent, holding only your choice (accepted or rejected) and the time you made it. It is needed to remember your choice, is never sent to us or to Google, and applies only to this browser and device. We ask again after 12 months, or if you clear site data. If your browser blocks site storage, your choice applies to the current page only. Withdrawing: choosing “Reject analytics” after accepting stops any further Analytics collection on the current page straight away and deletes the site’s _ga cookies; no reload is needed, so calculator inputs you have typed are kept. Data already sent before you withdrew stays with Google for the retention periods above. You can also use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or block cookies in your browser. Search engine tools

We use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools to see how the site appears in search results. These services give us aggregate search data and do not add tracking code to your visit.

Email

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include. We use it to reply and to correct errors you report, and we keep correspondence only as long as needed for that purpose and our records. Email is stored in our hosted mailbox.

Sponsored affiliate links and other external sites

Some pages show cards labelled “Sponsored” that link to Amazon search results with our Amazon Associates tracking tag. Loading our page does not contact Amazon; only if you click a link does your browser go to Amazon, which may set cookies to attribute a purchase and processes your information under its own privacy notice. We receive commission reports from Amazon, not your identity. See our Affiliate Disclosure. Other external links lead to sites with their own privacy policies.

Site administrators

WordPress sets login cookies only for site administrators who sign in. Ordinary visitors do not receive them.

How we use information

To operate, secure and improve the site; to understand which content is useful; and to respond to messages. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live—including under the GDPR/UK GDPR and U.S. state privacy laws—you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to opt out of certain processing. You can accept, reject or withdraw analytics at any time using Privacy choices. To make another request, email contact@batterycaliber.com. Because we do not hold analytics data in a form linked to your name or email, we may be unable to locate analytics records about you. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Children

This site is intended for adults planning electrical systems. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we limit the information we hold.

Changes

If our practices change—for example, if we add a contact form, newsletter or a new analytics or affiliate provider—we will update this policy and the date above.
